Total Return Fixed Income Asset Management at Dwight
The investment process at Dwight centers on the "spread" sectors of the fixed income market. Dwight seeks to achieve the majority of excess returns over relevant benchmarks through security selection and sector rotation techniques. Dwight utilizes duration and yield curve strategies as additional tools to add value.
All portfolios are team-managed, and the investment team consists of seasoned professionals who are organized on a specialty basis. The entire investment team formulates policy during weekly strategy meetings based on three key top-down components—duration, term structure, and benchmark-relative sector weightings.
Bottom-up security decisions are the responsibility of sector portfolio managers and credit research analysts. Each sector team is responsible for the fundamental research, purchase, and sale of individual securities in adherence to the investment policy. The quantitative team rounds out the security selection process by conducting cash-flow analysis and modeling.
